Its after thanksgiving so I can officially talk about Christmas now!!! I want to start by saying that this whole post is going to be about the Christmas season so if you don’t celebrate Christmas this may not be the post for you. That being said, I am VERY ready for the holidays. Not only does the holiday season mean that I get a bit of a break from school, but it also means that I get to spend some time in the Holly Jolly Mood. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. When I was little it was obviously because of Santa Clause and the Gifts, but now that I am older I love the Christmas season for a whole different reason. As you grow up, before you have kids the Holidays are more about spending time with the people who are the most important to you. I love the holidays because I absolutely love getting to be around all of the amazing people in my life. In this stage of my life, things are a little hectic. Although they are slowly starting to get better, I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time at home with my family. So this year I plan to soak up all of the family time I can get. Another thing about the Christmas season that I really like is getting to spoil my friends and family. I know that it isn’t all about the gift giving but I really enjoy getting to give the people in my life a little something as a repayment for all that they do for me during the year.
Everyone’s holiday season is a little bit different, so today I am going to share a couple of my family holiday traditions.
Setting Up The Christmas Tree
We don’t have a specific time that we set up our family room Christmas tree (the one pictured above is the tree in my bedroom). But when we finally get around to putting up the tree we always listen to the album Peace on Earth by Casting Crowns. It is a christian band singing some old Christmas songs and some new ones, but we listen to it every year.
On Christmas Eve we go to a church service at our church, and then when we get home we have a couple of presents to open. We always have one or two games that we open and play on Christmas Eve, and usually there is a pair of pajamas that I get to wear to bed that night. We haven’t done it in a few years, but we also used to watch A Christmas Story after games because its my dads favorite Christmas movie.
Every year we put up a Christmas Village. I am usually the one who sets it up, but it is basically a village of little ceramic people and buildings that sit on a table that we have and we have been setting it up since before I can remember. (I dont have any pictures of it but I will insert one this year after we set it up.)
I hope you are all having an awesome day, and remember to stay positive. Comment down below some of your favorite holiday traditions.
